Ghostie cupcakes

For halloween I decided to make some ghost cupcakes.  I thought they were ghost cupcakes, but my friends responses ranged from a) ghosts b) klan members and c) condoms.

They were too chocolatey for the kids, so I ended up eating lots of them.  FYI the ghosts were made of two mini marshmallows stuck together with a drop of water and the top one twisted.

Birthday cake, this is

My son is obsessed with Lego Star Wars and his favourite mini figure is Yoda.
So for his 7th birthday I had a go at creating a cake of the mini figure.  On comparison to the original, you can see he has got a bit of middle aged spread and his ears have got bigger... it happens to everyone, even jedi masters.

Girly cupcakes

I made these cupcakes for my friend R. She is surrounded by males at home, so I thought I'd make her some super-girly-pink cupcakes for her birthday Turned out more like taramasalata though!

Baking weekend

Since Thursday I have made *deep breath* one Devils Food Cake, 53 cupcakes, one Coffee and Walnut cake and a Custard Cream cheesecake.

The Devils Food cake was for Anna's birthday, I used a Nigella recipe (Kitchen) and decorated with sugar paste flowers made using cutters that Lucy gave me.  I dusted the centre of each flower with some edible red dusting. VERY chocolatey.

These were for the school cake sale.  The theme was Space, so Eve suggested using flying saucers.  I decorated the vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, sprayed on edible glitter, added some star shaped sprinkles and the flying saucers.  We carried them to school in disposable roasting trays.

Coffee and Walnut cake (Nigella - Kitchen) for Sunday teatime with Ian, Frank and Paola.  Loads of butter icing, there was a bit of leftover icing which was delicious with the spare walnut halves.

Ian's favourite biscuit is a custard cream, so this is a standard baked cheescake with a custard cream base for him.  With raspberries to cut through the full on dairy-sugariness of the whole thing.
